GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A large police presence arrived to the 500 block of Hopson Street NE on Thursday morning.

Roofers were working on top of a house when a neighbor – who was apparently upset that they had parked their truck in his lawn and were being loud – opened a window, made a loud bang and took off, according to GRPD.

The roofers told Fox 17 they thought they were being shot at and got scared, calling police.

At least 12 units arrived.

Grand Rapids police confirmed the man had set off a firework and the noise was not a gun shot.

He was not arrested or cited.

The roofers have returned to work.
