GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Peter Meijer, candidate for the Republican nomination in the 3rd Congressional District, will be refocusing his campaign to deliver care packages to vulnerable people amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“Today our team is launching Operation F.R.E.D., or Food Relief Emergency Delivery, to serve our community during these uncertain times. Starting on Tuesday, our team will shop for and deliver essential food and staple items to our vulnerable neighbors who cannot leave their homes to shop for themselves during this pandemic,” Meijer said in a press release.

“Now that the ongoing coronavirus outbreak has spread to West Michigan, with Kent County reporting its first confirmed case of coronavirus last week, I believe we must put politics aside and focus on protecting the most vulnerable in these extraordinary times.”

Meijer says he is shifting his focus, but will remain in the race and on the ballot in August.
