One dead in Garfield Park Cemetery shooting

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Grand Rapids Police say one person is dead after a shooting in Garfield Park Cemetery.

Police say the victim died at the hospital. They say they're waiting to release his name until they have an opportunity to speak with his family.

GRPD say's they're unsure why they were at the cemetery but they are asking people to avoid the cemetery while their forensic unit continues their investigation.

Police say they do not have a suspect or anyone in custody, but they are questioning a number of witnesses.

The Grand Rapids Police Department said they want to work with the community and ask anyone with any information or Ring cameras in the neighborhood to call the station at 616-456-3400 or silent observer.
