Mel Trotter Ministries hosts annual Thanksgiving dinner

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Mel Trotter Ministries still hosted its annual Thanksgiving dinner – but with some changes this year, of course.

The ministry has been collecting donations to provide boxed meals to families this year, but they still hosted a sit-down meal for residents Thursday.

They expected about 500 to 600 people, who ate at socially-distanced tables throughout the day.

Staff have been working all week to cook the food to serve Thursday, giving up some of their own family time in the process.

Mel Trotter wants to remind people that homelessness will continue to be an issue as we get into the cold, winter months – especially with the impact of the pandemic.

Donations can be made at meltrotter.org.
