Man shot in hand near school on Aberdeen Street

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Grand Rapids Police Department (GRPD) has confirmed with Fox 17 that a man was shot on Aberdeen Street earlier this afternoon.

GRPD was dispatched to the area of of Aberdeen Street at Diamond Avenue NE just after 4:30 p.m., near Aberdeen K-8 school.

The man who was shot took off before GRPD arrived, but he was later located with a gunshot wound in his hand.

The age of the victim and many details leading up to the shooting are unknown, as GRPD said the victim has not been cooperative.

This shooting is under further investigation.
