GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Grand Rapids Police will not be looking for violators of the governor’s stay-at- home order and hopes citizens will “use restraint” in calling police.

In a statement issued Wednesday, GRPD noted that not only are there good reasons to be out in public, such as grocery shopping, going to the doctor), but outdoor activities are fine, as long as they are not in large groups.

As for calling the police, GRPD said they would “do our best to address the most egregious instances of non-compliance,” but officers will not be actively looking for violators.

The statement indicated that officers are like everyone else in that they must be concerned about keeping social distance while performing their duties.
