GRPD identifies man found with gunshot wound after crashing car

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Grand Rapids police have identified the victim from a Sunday night shooting.

Michael George Eastwood, a 23-year-old from Plainfield Township, was found with a gunshot wound to the chest after crashing his vehicle into a building near Division Avenue and Burton.

Police say they tried to save the man, but he later died at the hospital.

The Kent County Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled his death a homicide.

GRPD says the incident may be related to a shots fired call in the area of Burton and Collins SE around the same time.

No suspects are in custody.
