GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Police are currently investigating a pair of shootings that broke out in Grand Rapids near Cherry Street on Tuesday.

We’re told the first shooting happened after 11 a.m. on Prospect Avenue when Unique Camreil Evans, 28, was shot.

“CPR was attempted and life-saving measures, and then he was transported to an area hospital," says Sgt. Dan Adams with the Grand Rapids Police Department.

Police tell us the Evans was in serious condition before succumbing to his injuries.

“There is no other way to describe this senseless murder other than to call it an execution,” says Chief Eric Payne.

Police say they located the suspect's vehicle before 1 p.m. when the suspect fled before crashing at Eleventh Street and Hamilton Avenue and 11th Street.

Authorities informed us that the second shooting is not related to the first.
