Grand Rapids police identify victim, 2 suspects in Franklin Street shooting

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Grand Rapids police have identified the shooting victim who was killed on Franklin Street back in October.

Romito James Jones, 35, from Grand Rapids was killed by gunfire on Oct. 6, according to the Grand Rapids Police Department.

We’re told Shaquan Jacques Washington, 26, and Jamarie Nicholus Bell, 18, were charged with open murder after an investigation was conducted.

Sgt. Dan Adams says both suspects are also facing charges for felony firearms and gang membership, adding that they both could spend the rest of their lives behind bars if convicted.

The 61st District Court says the two suspects were arraigned this morning. They tell us both were denied bond.
