GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The city manager of Grand Rapids is asking the City Commission to consider extending a now-expired curfew through June 7.

The National Guard is "assessing its demobilization," and law and order has been established, according to City Manager Mark Washington in a tweet by the city.

Washington said the National Guard will begin demobilizing today if nothing else happens.

However, he'd like to extend the curfew.

The commission is considering the matter today during its Committee of the Whole meeting.
