GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Grand Rapids Rowing Club is holding a show drive this month to raise funds for its programs.
The club will earn funds based on the total weight of the shoes collected, they said on their Facebook page.
Funds2Orgs will purchase all donated shoes and all of the money will benefit the club.
Gently worn, used or new shoes of any size can be dropped off at the Grand Rapids Rowing Boathouse at 291 North Park St. NW.
Collection will occur Sept. 13 from 2:30 to 4 p.m. and Sept. 29 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
The club hopes to collect at least 2,500 pairs of shoes.
Funds2Orgs will redistribute all of the shoes to those in need in its network around the world. Proceeds from those sales will be used to feed, clothe and house families within that network.
“We are excited about our shoe drive and being able to use the shoes to support others,” GR Row member Jen Schafer said. “Now is a great time to clean out closets and put unused shoes to use. It’s a win-win for everyone.”
