Donkey Taqueria says employee tested positive for COVID-19

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Donkey Taqueria said Tuesday one of their employees tested positive for coronavirus Tuesday morning.

"We were hopeful this day wouldn't arrive, but here we are," said the restaurant's Instagram post. "Despite everyone's best efforts to follow state and federal guidelines for health and safety, one of our employees recently tested positive for the COVID-19 virus."

Donkey Taqueria said that team member hasn't worked in the last 10 days but they decided to close the restaurant Tuesday just to be safe.

They also added that no other staff member has tested positive for the virus. "First and foremost, our priorities are to ensure the absolute safety of our staff and customers."

"This is the new reality for restaurant operators and we will not be alone. Most importantly, we will continue to monitor this situation with our valued staff member and do all we can to ensure their full recovery."

The say they will be closed until at least May 4.
