2 men suffer gunshot wounds at Dickinson Street party

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Two men were shot at a house party on Dickinson Street SE shortly after midnight.

At 12:15 a.m. Sunday, the Grand Rapids Police Department responded to a report of multiple gunshots in the 1300 block of Dickinson Street SE. Ensuing calls reported that two victims had been transported privately to the hospital.

Police learned that the men were 28 and 30 years old. One had been wounded in the hip and the other in the arm.

Police at the scene also discovered that one residence had been struck by approximately eight gunshots, another residence by approximately six shots and at least three vehicles had been hit by bullets.

Police said it appears that one of the residences had been rented for a house party. During the party, approximately 20 cars were in front of the residence, two females began fighting and the shooting began.

No information about either suspects or vehicles is available.

The GRPD Forensics Services Unit responded to the scene and GRPD's Major Crimes Team was notified.
