GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A man died and a woman was seriously injured in a Sunday morning traffic crash on the city's south side.

At 2 a.m. Sunday, the Grand Rapids Police Department responded to a report of a single-vehicle accident at South Division Avenue and Dickinson Street. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered that a vehicle had left the roadway and hit a building.

The driver, a 32-year-old Grand Rapids man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A female passenger also was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation shows that the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control, exited the roadway, the vehicle overturned and struck the building.
