Man, 28, shot and killed on Grand Rapids' SE side

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Grand Rapids police responded to reports of shots fired around Dolbee Street and Franklin Avenue Sunday evening.

Officers discovered a male gunshot victim on Thomas Street upon arrival, according to the Grand Rapids Police Department.

They say they tried to save the 28-year-old man’s life until he succumbed to his wounds at around 7 p.m.

The victim has since been identified as Marquis Deon Townsend from Grand Rapids, according to Sgt. John Wittkowski, adding that his death has been ruled a homicide by the Kent County Medical Examiner’s Office.

We’re told there are no suspects presently.
