BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Fire crews responded to a residential fire on Goguac Street in Battle Creek this evening.
The Battle Creek Fire Department says the building’s occupants had vacated the structure by the time crews arrived.
We’re told fire crews acted quickly to contain the fire in 40 minutes despite frigid temperatures.
The fire department says the fire likely started in the basement area before spreading to the two floors above it.
We’re told a firefighter sustained a shoulder injury in the process. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
