GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Deaf and hard of hearing children are able to experience the wonder of Christmas in a new light this year.

Due to the pandemic, the annual meet-and-greet with Santa has shifted to a drive-thru event where families can drive down a trail and make refreshment stops along the way.

At the end of the trail, kids can sign to Santa what they want for Christmas and even receive a gift.

This event is happeningSaturday, December 5, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Little Pine Island Camp. Parents are asked to register their child in advance so the elves know how many gifts to give.

Erica Chapin, Community and Partnerships Manager for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services, joined Fox 17 live to share how this is all about giving these kids a voice.
