GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A 21-year-old woman is dead after being hit head-on by a wrong way driver on NB US-131 near 28th Street.
The crash happened around 3:15 Sunday morning. It closed the northbound side of the highway from 28th Street to Burton Street for several hours.
Michigan State Police said a 21-year-old woman was driving a Volkswagen Jetta on the stretch of highway when a 22-year-old Grand Rapids woman, driving a Chrysler 200 southbound on the highway crashed head-on into the Jetta. Both cars were sideswiped by a tanker-truck heading north.
Both drivers were taken to the hospital. The 21-year-old driver was pronounced dead while the 22-year-old woman is in critical condition. The truck driver was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
