South Haven man charged with murder

SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. — A South Haven has been charged with Open Murder after allegedly murdering a woman Wednesday evening.

On Wednesday, Aug. 19, officers from the South Haven Police Department responded to a 911 call of an unconscious woman at a residence on Pearl Street.

Officers determined at the scene that the woman was dead and that foul play was involved.

On Thursday, South Haven police arrested 36-year-old Randy Halstead from South Haven.

Halstead was transported and lodged in the Van Buren County Jail, and was arraigned today in the 7th District Court on the charge of Open Murder and Habitual Offender.

He remains lodged with no bond.

South Haven Police was assisted by the Van Buren County Sheriff's Department.
