BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — A larceny incident led to a police chase and crash involving a stolen vehicle in Battle Creek on Tuesday night.

It happened about 9:15 p.m., when deputies were sent to a business in the 1400 block of Capital Avenue NE for a larceny that had just happened, according to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office.

The caller had given the department a description of a vehicle, and one of the deputies saw a vehicle matching that description leaving the area quickly.

As the deputy tried to stop the vehicle, it fled south on Raymond Road, then continued west on Golden Avenue.

The deputy stopped the chases when the vehicle reached a more populated area.

Within minutes, the Battle Creek City Police Department responded to a single-vehicle crash into a building in the 900 block of Capital Avenue SW.

This vehicle matched the description from the larceny and pursuit, according to Calhoun County police.

The driver fled the scene, and witnesses gave police conflicting information.

Police learned Wednesday morning that the vehicle had been stolen out of Battle Creek.
