EAST GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — In a move that had been subject of rumors, The James salon in Gaslight Village will be closing, owner James Garnant announced Saturday in a Facebook post.
“I have spent the past seven weeks searching for a path to success for both The James locations. This is just not an option,” Garnant noted, pointing to the financial effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Garnant blamed “the devastating loss of revenue as of now and also going forward until this pandemic is under control.”
“Last August, we opened our second location and acquired hundreds of thousands of dollars in loans, so it's affected us negatively," Garnant said to FOX 17 in April of the fallout from stay-at-home orders and the closure of his category of businesses.
But Garnant sought to find optimism in his announcement, saying the James Salon in Ada Village will take in the staff and services from Gaslight Village.
The James in Ada Village is located at 550 Settlers Drive.
