GRAND RAPIDS — While our time at home may have resulted in some improvement projects around the house, Grand Rapids Community College hopes people can build onto their skill set with free online classes.
The pandemic has been devastating in so many ways, especially for those who were laid off, furloughed or forced to find new jobs. GRCC hopes to make that transition as easy as possible, offering 10 free classes designed to help build valuable skills at home.
The virtual classes go until June 30, and participants work at their own pace.
"We have some [classes] about web design and smart business to really help you at home," explained Julie Parks, Executive Director of Workforce Training at GRCC.
"How do you search for a job? How do you become a better communicator? And then we have a webinar that was done by local trainers that we work with to get people ready to go back to work, for those who still have jobs to go back to.So, it's more than just the mask and glove. How do you work with each other when you're in these new conditions."
