DETROIT (WXYZ) — A Detroit postal worker has died from the coronavirus, the National Postal Mail Handlers Union said.
Anthony Smith was a mail handler with Local 307.
He's the first known mail handler death caused by the virus,
Smith worked for the United States Postal Service for 30 years.
He also served in the Army for 12 years.
"(Anthony) was married and loved kids; he helped raise 15 children," the union said.
"Anthony loved music, a good barbecue and singing karaoke. He was a funny man that enjoyed telling jokes and spending time with family and friends.
"Anthony Smith will be deeply missed by family, friends and all that knew him. Please keep brother Smith’s family and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers."
