LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 65,533.
The number of cases has increased 858 from Thursday, July 2, when there were 64,675f statewide cases, according to the Department of Health and Human Services. Thursday, the state reported 543 new cases.
The state says there have been 5,972 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.
The number of deaths has increased 6 from Thursday, when there were 5,966 statewide deaths. Thursday, the state reported 15 new deaths.
Statewide, 51,099 people have recovered from the virus as of July 4. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."
In the U.S., there are 2,818,588 cases, and there have been 129,584 deaths — while 883,561 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
