Michigan reports 477 new coronavirus cases

LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 93,662.

The number of cases increased 477 from yesterday, when there were 93,185 statewide cases, according to the Department of Health and Human Services this afternoon. Yesterday, the state reported 465 new cases.

The state says there have been 6,340 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.

The number of deaths has increased 15 from yesterday, when there were 6,325 statewide deaths. Yesterday, the state reported one new death.

Statewide, 67,778 people have recovered from the virus as of Aug. 14. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."

In the U.S., there are 5,462,976 cases, and there have been 171,120 deaths — while 1,865,580 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
