LANSING, Mich. — There are a total of 450,776 new coronavirus cases and 11,208 deaths in Michigan, the state reported Thursday.
That's up 4,024 cases and 190 deaths since the last report on Wednesday. That includes 125 deaths identified during a vital records review.
The state passed 400,000 total cases of COVID-19 last week, just less than nine months after the first cases were confirmed on March 10.
The 400,000 case mark came on the same day that Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced the COVID-19 restrictions would be extended for 12 more days until Dec. 20.
As of Friday, Dec. 11, 236,369 people have recovered from the virus in Michigan. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."
In the U.S., there are 17,195,926 cases, and there have been 310,434 deaths, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
