WALKER, Mich. — Meijer is changing its store hours to give customers more time to shop and extending the hours reserved for certain customers.
The move is intended to "increase shopper flexibility," according to Meijer today.
The retailer's latest reserved hours are for several groups of customers: senior citizens (60 and older); those with chronic health conditions; essential service workers; and its team members.
Service workers include all medical workers, first responders and law enforcement.
Meijer asks that other customers "please respect the times for these important groups."
“These extended hours will best serve all our customers and provide more flexibility to shop Meijer stores,” said Rick Keyes, president and CEO, Meijer.
“As communities begin to re-open, it’s more important than ever that we find new ways to adjust and re-shape how our customers shop for products they need, while keeping their families safe.”
Meijer's new store hours
— Close at midnight, beginning May 15, and open each morning at 6 a.m.
— Express convenience store locations close at 11 p.m. and open each morning at 6 a.m.; pay-at-the-pump fuel sales remain available 24 hours a day.
— Extend shopping times for senior citizens and customers with chronic health conditions on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-8 a.m. Pharmacies continue opening at 7 a.m. on those days.
— Extend shopping times for essential service workers and Meijer team members on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-8 a.m. Pharmacies continue opening at 7 a.m. on those days.
Meijer, founded in 1934, operates more than 248 stores in the Midwest.
