GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Meijer announced Saturday an employee has passed away due to COVID-19.
"We are deeply saddened to confirm that we have recently lost our first Meijer team members as a result of complications due to COVID-19." Frank Gugliemi, Senior Director of Communications for Meijer stated. "Out of respect for the team members and their families, we will not share any additional details and ask that you respect their privacy during this difficult time."
Team members at the store where the employee worked have been informed and crisis councelors have been made available for the staff.
Gugliemi tells FOX 17 they have been doing detailed cleanings and are following screening protocols to ensure the safety of guests and employees at their stores.
