Diocese of Grand Rapids cancels all public Masses

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — All public Masses within the Diocese of Grand Rapids are being canceled.

The move is effective immediately and will run through Palm Sunday on April 5. according to the diocese this afternoon.

It also applies to all other liturgical and devotional services.

Baptisms, weddings and funerals can continue outside of Mass, with no more than 50 people.

Individual confession times and The March 27 evening of penance, “The Light is On for You,” can continue as scheduled.

The Diocese of Grand Rapids said Mass will continue to be livestreamed from the Cathedral of Saint Andrew every Sunday at 10 a.m. The Mass can also be viewed on FOX 17, on the diocesan website and Facebook page.

Catholics within the diocese are "granted a dispensation" from their obligation of attending Sunday Mass through April 5, the diocese said.
