Michigan reports more than 80K have recovered from COVID-19

MICHIGAN — More than 80,000 Michiganders have recovered from COVID-19, according to Michigan.gov.

The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 106,215.

The number of cases increased 838 from yesterday, when there were 105,377 statewide cases, according to the Department of Health and Human Services this afternoon.

Yesterday, the state reported 982 new cases.

The state says there have been 6,534 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.

The number of deaths has increased eight from yesterday, when there were 6,519 deaths. Yesterday, when the state reported seven new deaths.

Statewide, 80,678 people have recovered from the virus as of Sep. 5. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."

In the U.S., there are more than 6,176,623 cases, and there have been 187,200 deaths — while 2,266,957 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
