PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A local gym is telling its members their full "pre-scheduled" March dues "will be billed," despite the governor's executive order that gyms shut down.
The Planet Fitness in Plainfield Township was "unfortunately, unable to stop the pre-scheduled draft on short notice," the gym says in a March 17 letter.
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's executive order that certain businesses, including fitness clubs, close went into effect on March 16.
"Please know that when we re-open, we will provide a credit for closed days previously paid for, and we will not be charging future monthly dues until we re-open," the gym says.
In the letter, the gym also encourages its members to use its mobile app to "continue your workouts at home" and visit the chain's Facebook page for "home work-ins."
