WALKER, Mich — Pets can be adopted as reduced cost thanks to a special Empty The Shelters initiative by the Bissell Pet Foundation.
Adoption fees are now $25, with the foundation picking up additional costs.
Foundation staff heard that shelters throughout Michigan were seeing fewer people visiting the shelters, fewer adoptions made, and more and more pets coming into the shelters, Bri Olson with the Bissell Pet Foundation told FOX 17 Morning News.
If you are interested in adopting a pet, first go online to the Bissell Pet Foundation Empty the Shelters page and use the link on that page to find an animal shelter near you. Fill out an application for that shelter, and shelter staff will be in touch to arrange an appointment.
