LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 68,295.
The number of cases has increased 612 from yesterday, when there were 67,683 statewide cases, according to the Department of Health and Human Services this afternoon. Yesterday, the state reported 446 new cases.
The state says there have been 6,039 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.
The number of deaths has increased 15 from yesterday, when there were 6,024 statewide deaths. Yesterday, the state reported 9 new deaths.
Statewide, 52,841 people have recovered from the virus as of July 5. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."
In the U.S., there are 3,158,183 cases, and there have been 133,746 deaths — while 969,111 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
