LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 58,241.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) released the latest numbers on the coronavirus outbreak this afternoon.
The number of cases has increased 206 from yesterday, when there were 58,035 statewide cases. Yesterday, the state reported 304 new cases.
The state says there have been 5,595 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.
The number of deaths has increased 25 from yesterday, when there were 5,570 statewide deaths. Yesterday, the state reported 17 new deaths.
Statewide, 38,099 people have recovered from the virus as of May 29. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."
In the U.S., there are 1,860,890 cases, and there have been 107,474 deaths — while 479,528 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
