LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 37,778.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) reported the latest numbers of cases in the coronavirus outbreak this afternoon.
The number of cases has increased 575 from yesterday, when there were 37,203 statewide cases. Yesterday, the state reported 562 new cases.
The state says there have been 3,315 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.
The number of deaths has increased 41 from yesterday, when there were 3,274 statewide deaths. Yesterday, the state reported 189 new deaths.
Statewide, 8,342 people have recovered from the virus as of April 24. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."
In the U.S., there are 956,292 cases, and there have been 54,175 deaths — while 106,366 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
