118,615 coronavirus cases confirmed in Michigan

LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 118,615.

The number of cases increased 705 from yesterday, when there were 117,910 statewide cases, according to the Department of Health and Human Services this afternoon. Yesterday, the state reported 504 new cases.

The state says there have been 6,692 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.

The number of deaths has increased 12 from yesterday, when there were 6,680 deaths. Yesterday, the state reported 15 new deaths.

Statewide, 85,513 people have recovered from the virus as of Sept. 11. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."

In the U.S., there are 6,913,046 cases, and there have been 201,319 deaths — while 2,646,959 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
