LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 107,812.
The number of cases increased 441 from yesterday, when there were 107,371 statewide cases, according to the Department of Health and Human Services this afternoon. Yesterday, the state reported 1,156 new cases — over Sunday and Monday.
The state says there have been 6,539 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.
The number of deaths has increased one from yesterday, when there were 6,538 deaths. Yesterday, the state reported four new deaths.
Statewide, 80,678 people have recovered from the virus as of Sept. 5. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."
In the U.S., there are 6,318,978 cases, and there have been 189,400 deaths — while 2,333,583 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
