107,371 coronavirus cases confirmed in Michigan

LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 107,371.

The number of cases increased 1,156 from Saturday, when there were 106,215 statewide cases, according to the Department of Health and Human Services this afternoon. The state is now reporting daily COVID-19 numbers Monday through Saturday. On Saturday, the state reported 838 new cases.

The state says there have been 6,538 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.

The number of deaths has increased four from Saturday, when there were 6,534 deaths. On Saturday, the state reported eight new deaths.

Statewide, 80,678 people have recovered from the virus as of Sept. 5. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."

In the U.S., there are 6,292,206 cases, and there have been 189,095 deaths — while 2,315,995 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
