CASS COUNTY, Mich. — A woman was injured when she lost control of her vehicle and it crashed on railroad tracks Sunday morning.
Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke reports that at 6:45 a.m. Sunday his office was called to investigate a personal injury accident on Pokagon Highway near Baron Lake Road in Pokagon Township. The investigation shows that the 49-year-old driver, Samantha Robertson of Niles, was traveling westbound on Pokagon Highway when she lost control of the vehicle, which left the roadway and struck the railroad tracks near the intersection of Pokagon Highway and Barron Lake.
Robertson sustained minor injuries and was transported by Southwest Michigan Community Ambulance Services (SMACAS) to Lakeland Hospital Niles for treatment of her injuries.
Deputies said seatbelts were worn in the crash, and alcohol and drugs are not believed to have been factors.
Assisting agencies included the SMACAS Ambulance and the Howard Township Fire Department.
