WHITE CLOUD, Mich. — A special prosecutor has been chosen to handle a drunk driving case involving a Kent County deputy.

The Newaygo County prosecutor will handle the case of Brian Johnson, who is accused of driving drunk on Jan. 10 and hitting a woman crossing Market Avenue in Grand Rapids.

Johnson was arrested, but because he is a Kent County employee who works in the courts, the Kent County Prosecutor’s Office asked the state’s attorney general to assign another prosecutor to the case.

Johnson hasn’t been arraigned on any charges at this point.
