May 19 is World IBD Day, or Inflammatory Bowel Disease. IBD effects more than 10 million people across the globe, and there are many ways people can help spread awareness.

One of the ways to help spread awareness of IBD is to check out the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation website. Throughout the month of May, they'll #StepUp4IBD to increase awareness of and familiarity with inflammatory bowel disease, educate the public about these diseases, and raise funds to support our mission of finding IBD cures and improving patient quality of life.

Another way to get involved is to join the Take Steps West Michigan virtual walk. Due to COVID-19, the physical event has been canceled. However people can still walk on their own practicing social distancing on June 20 at 12 p.m. to help spread awareness and collect donations for research.
