When it comes to vaccinations or physicals, many have had some hesitations going to the doctor's office or hospital due to COVID-19. Spectrum Health launched a curbside visit program allowing many procedures to be done without leaving the parking lot.
Curbside service is for all ages and includes immunizations, injections, strep, and A1c POC’s. This service is also helpful for patients that have trouble ambulating or other special needs where it would be more comforting to stay in their vehicle.
Appointments may be scheduled by calling the office and requesting a curbside visit. The scheduler will inform you to look for the designated parking spaces. You pull into the parking space and call the phone number on the sign. Registration is completed over the phone and clinical staff meets you at your vehicle, ready to perform the necessary service through your car window.
Benefits include no time spent in the waiting room, all is done with social distancing in mind, and it is a quick and easy process that patients seem to really appreciate so far.
Spectrum Health launched curbside visits starting with three pilot sites: Kentwood Family Medicine, Rivertown Internal Medicine/Pediatrics, and Grand Rapids Pediatrics – 68th Street.
Spectrum Health plans to have all Primary Health sites across West Michigan providing this service by the end of August
