Every day across West Michigan people Pay It Forward, trying to make our community better in their own special ways. Fox 17 is proud to partner up with Lake Michigan Credit Union to recognize those individuals who give of themselves and ask nothing in return through the annual Pay It Forward Person of the Month and Person of the Year.
Normally these people are recognized in-person during a beautiful luncheon, but for safety reasons, a recap of the stories featuring the nominees will air at 7 p.m. on Fox 17.
Credit Unions are founded on the philosophy of “people helping people.” At Lake Michigan Credit Union that not only means providing valuable financial services to our community, it also means being an active member of the community and uplifting those individuals and organizations that are improving our communities every day.
In 2020, LMCU continued to give back to the community while responding to the needs of the pandemic by:
- Donating nearly $1 million in philanthropic support to nonprofits in Michigan and Florida with a focus on COVID relief, housing, education and health, and well-being.
- Employees donated 144 pints of blood which directly helped 432 patients.
- Several branches serving as personal protection equipment drop-off sites.
- Team members finding unique ways to volunteer their time by tapping into local projects that had immediate needs and created lasting impacts within our community.
If you know someone who goes above and beyond, nominate them for Pay It Forward Person of the Month!
Don't forget to tune into Fox 17 on Wednesday at 7 p.m. to find out who the Pay It Forward Person of the Year is.
