Friday's Friend: Kiki

Featured Pet: Kiki

November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month, and the Humane Society of West Michigan still has lots in the shelter looking for loving homes. This week’s senior spotlight is Kiki, a 13-year-old Silver Paws kitty! Kiki is a tiny delight, a sweet soft girl who appreciates a gentle approach and is looking for someone willing to give her time and space to adjust. As soon as she feels safe, she’s all purrs and personality!

Poor Kiki has been patiently waiting to find her forever family for almost half a year, and hopes to find it soon! Kiki enjoys naps in the sun, being petted while she relaxes, and she loves to sink into her plush cat bed at the end of the day. If you're interested in giving Kiki a home to live out her golden years, please visit our website at hswestmi.org/adoptablecats.

Gearing up for Giving Tuesday

December 1 is Giving Tuesday! On this global day of giving we hope you will support HSWM, who solely rely on donations and need your support. Your donations provide food, shelter, medical, and behavioral support that is critical to animals in their care until they step out of our doors to their next adventure.

This year, we have Chow Hound Pet Supplies and an anonymous donor matching donations dollar-for-dollar up to $15,000! Visit hswestmi.org/give to make your gift!

BIGGBY Fundraiser

BIGGBY has partnered with Humane Society of West Michigan to sell coupon booklets for $20 each! Feed the need for caffeine while feeding the pets in care, and get great deals at participating in BIGGBY locations. The fundraiser will be running from November 15 to December 15, so be sure to keep an eye on HSWM social media for shopping links and more details!

Kibble Connection

COVID-19 has impacted all aspects of our lives. One thing it should not be able to take is someone's ability to care for their beloved pet. HSWM is proud to be a partner with 10 local food pantries and is excited to launch a new partnership with Pleasant Hearts Food Pantry and Grand Rapids Pitbull Alliance to help provide cat and dog food to families that have fallen into financial hardship. Please consider donating a bag of cat or dog food to the Kibble Konnection program. It can be any kind and any brand, but please keep the food in the original packaging. To make a food donation, please drop off items in the donation bin at the HSWM entryway, and write KK or Kibble Konnection on the bag.

Home to Home Service

Rehoming your pet is never an easy decision to make, and surrendering your animal to a shelter can be intimidating. HSWM is happy to announce the Home to Home service is now ready for use! Home to Home service is for private adoptions only; a resource to help your pet stay in your home until they find their forever family.

How does the Home to Home Service Work? If an owner needs to rehome their pet, they will fill out a request form to have their pet added to the HSWM website. After that form is completed their pet will be listed on our Home to Home page within three days. If you are using this service to find a pet, you will need to contact the owner of that animal directly.

Current owner contact information will be public and provided on the Home to Home page.
