Humane Society's New Hours and Operations

COVID has thrown everyone for a loop, businesses, and shelters alike, and it's been tough balancing our desire to send as many pets home as possible, with the need to keep the staff and the public safe. After much careful planning and consideration, HSWM is now open to the public on a walk-in-basis once more!

Starting Tuesday, November 3, HSWM will be open for walk-in adoptions. Future pet-parents no longer need an appointment to come and meet with the animals.

Come visit Tuesday - Friday from 11 a.m.-6 p.m., and Saturday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

Adopt a Senior Pet Month

November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month. All year long HSWM offers fee-waved adoptions for cats over 10 years of age, and dogs over 7 years of age.

Featured Pet: Crash!

This week’s featured pet is Crash, an 11-year-old Silver Paws kitty. He’s an extremely affectionate, talkative lap cat who loves to follow his people around and snuggle as often as they’ll let him! Crash is a handsome, big boy, and will benefit from a slow, steady weight loss plan in his new home. He’d prefer to be the only cat in the home but has done well with small dogs in the past.

Fostering Saves Lives!

Interested in supporting the Humane Society of West Michigan in a way that’s easy and cost-effective? Consider joining the foster program! Fostering is rewarding and fun, and they provide fosters with everything they require--from finding the perfect pet for their home, offering advice and vet care, and giving our fosters all of the necessary supplies.

Thanks to many compassionate members of the community, HSWM has been able to place 843 shelter pets into foster homes between January 1, 2020, and November 2, 2020!

National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week November 6th-13th
It’s National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week! HWWM want to take this opportunity to thank all of the staff and volunteers in our community who work hard every day to help make our shelters the best they can be! If you’d like to show your support and appreciation, HSWM staff always loves receiving new enrichment items for the animals in our care. Check out their wishlist at hswestmi.org/wish-list.
