The Grand Rapids Asian-Pacific Festival and Downtown Grand Rapids Inc. are presenting the Lunar New Year Festival on January 25 as part of the 2020 World of Winter Festival.

The Lunar New Year marks the beginning a new Chinese zodiac, which assigns an animal and its attributes to each year of a 12-year cycle. 2020 is the Year of the Rat and the beginning of a new rotation.

It's a free event with food for purchase such as pho, eggrolls, steamed taro buns, Chinese donuts, boba tea, Manila waffle dogs, and more.

There'll be entertainment too like music, a martial arts demo, dragon dancers, lion dancers, Chinese yoyo performers, and more.

The festival will take place on 555 Monroe Avenue North West, where Movies on Monroe was held last summer.
