Calling all story writers! Kent District Library, Hancock School Public Library, and Schuler Books are bringing back their ninth annual Write Michigan Short Story Contest.

Writers of all ages living in the state of Michigan are invited to enter the contest, with separate categories for youth, teens, adults, and Spanish language for ages 11 and younger.

Short stories must be 3,000 words maximum. Entry fees are $10 for adults, and free for 17 and under.

Winners will get their story published and receive cash prizes. The top honor in each category will win a $500 cash prize and a Judges’ Choice runner-up in each category will receive $250.

Winners will be announced on February 4, 2021 and will honored during an awards ceremony in March. Their story will be published in an anthology by Chapbook Press.

Stories can be submitted at writemichigan.org through Monday, November 30 at noon.
