MARCELLUS TOWNSHIP, Mich. — An alcohol-related crash left one man in the hospital, according to the Cass County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Church St. and Goff Lake Rd. in Marcellus Township at about 11:16 p.m. on Saturday night.

After investigating, they determined that the driver, 25-year-old Marcellus resident, Nickolas Soule, was headed east on Church St. when he lost control, drove off the road, and crashed into a tree.

Deputies said that Soule was the only person involved in the crash. He was wearing his seatbelt at the time but was transported to Borgess Lee Hospital in Dowagiac by Marcellus Ambulance for his injuries.

Investigators believe alcohol was a factor, however the case is still being investigated.
