HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- One person is dead and three others are seriously injured following a three-car crash in Ottawa County.

According to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office, that crash happened Sunday afternoon on Douglas Avenue near Adams Street, when a 33-year-old woman from Holland lost control of her SUV and crossed the centerline, striking another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.

The second car was then hit by a Jeep that was unable to avoid the collision, deputies said.

The 33-year-old driver of the SUV was taken to Holland Community Hospital, where she later died from her injuries. Her 16-year-old passenger was also taken to the hospital and is listed in critical condition.

According to deputies, the 44-year-old driver of the second vehicle involved in the crash and their 18-year-old passenger are both hospitalized and in serious condition. The 31-year-old driver of the Jeep, meanwhile, is listed in stable condition.

The intersection of Douglas and Adams was closed for three hours while the incident was investigated.

The sheriff's office continues to investigate the crash.
