KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A plane slid off the runway at the Kalamazoo Battle Creek International airport Friday afternoon after mechanical issues started just after takeoff.
The incident happened just after 4:30 p.m. Friday. The pilot was the only one on the single-engine plane and was able to set it down in the grassy area near the runway. The 41 year-old Battle Creek man was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and the FAA is investigating the crash.
